1891 & 1901 Census Look-up Request
« on: Sunday 24 June 07 12:00 BST (UK) »
I should be extremely grateful if SKS were able to look up the following family in the 1891 Census for Dalmellington and 1901 Census for Rankinstone.

McCreadie, James and Isabella (m.s. "Rorke/Rourk/Rourke")
married 22 Aug 1890, Dalmellington.
McCreadie, Margaret born 26 June 1900
McCreadie, Sarah born 1901
and possibly
McCreadie, Agnes born 1890-1901
McCreadie, Bella born 1890-1901

I am "kick-starting" a friend's genealogy and the best place to start him off is where I know best - my birthplace of Ayrshire.

Kind regards and thanks.

Hi Q98,

I'm interested in your friend's connection to John McCreadie and Isabella Rorke too.   I'm also doing some research for my second cousin Bill McCreadie in Queensland. They were his grandparents.  Have you beaten me to it, or is there another Qld line too?!

Best wishes, Mike

Hi Mike
The line I was researching on behalf of my mate was a Victorian line and as far as we were able to determine were not related although both our lines had their origins in Ayrshire.

My line extends from Ayrshire to Mourilyan and East Innisfail, Queensland thus:

McCREADIE, Margaret (b. c 1847, New Luce, Wigton d. unknown probably Queensland, Australia) [Widow of John McCREADIE, Newton, Ayr]
  KNOWN CHILDREN:
McCREADIE, Jane (2) (b. 28 Oct 1873, Main Street, Newton d. alive at 27 May
  1921)
married 12 August 1895, probably Queensland, Australia
WILLS, Alexander Adie (b. unknown d. unknown)
  McCREADIE, Isabella (b. 05 May 1876, 115 Main Street, Newton d. 31 May
  1910, Innisfail, Queensland)
married 06 Jul 1899, Cairns, Queensland
  WYATT, Albert Ernest (b. 22 May 1865, Clapton, Somersetshire, England d. c
  1915, Queensland)
  McCREADIE, John (6) (b. 03 Jul 1879, Newton, Ayr d. 10 Jul 1917, Belgium)

Both Isabella and Jane had several children to their husbands but at the time of brother John's death in 1917, Isabella had passed away. Thus there were no male McCREADIEs to pass along the name in Queensland as John had NOT married.
