Hi Daganta

I think your Ross family travelled on the 'Numidian' and arrived in Montreal, Quebec on 6 Jun 1906. From the info on the shipping manifest and the 1911 census (watch the dates for births for the parents as they seem to jump about a bit!), I think this is the family back in Scotland for the 1901 census:

Walter Ross 43 farmer b. Petty
Bessie Ross 35 b. Inverness
John Ross 6 b. Petty
Walter Ross 4 b. Petty
Jane F Ross 2 b. Petty
Catherine M Ross 8 months
Donald Wilson 18, servant
Jane Skinner 19, servant

Address: Farm House Brackley, Petty Inverness

Bessie is a name variant for Elizabeth, see www.whatsinaname.net which is particularly strong for Scottish first name variants. Mother shows as Bessie on the 1906 shipping manifest.

:P That will teach me to do posts late in the night  ;D Just re-read from the beginning of this thread and realise that my last post was your Walter Aley not Daganta's. The information I posted is what you have already and included here some posts ago.

Daganta, struggling to see any other Walter Jnr/Snr. at this stage that fits in the 1901 Scottish census.

Thanks Monica and Aley !!  I appreciate all your efforts, I am having trouble finding my notes ..but I should be all moved in my new place by sunday also trying to get my son to find that letter i gave him as he just moved also..  You know its that darn "Outlander" novel that got me going on all this Scotland research again.  I have had difficulty finding my Irish origins as you could see on my documentary series By Her Roots for Rootstelevision.com and on my YT channelhttp://www.youtube.com/user/RyaneInc#p/c/2843CD9912F18301   My Dublin Hayes ancestor was the most recent, timeline wise, and his wife stated on his death record that his mother was from scotland but didnt mention her name..but then she may have been in shock at the time.  So Scotland it is!

Aley:  RE:  "The Walter Ross Jr. I have did live in Toronto. He married Hattie Crealock Sept. 12, 1923 in Toronto. Not sure if we have the same Walter cause I have his death in 1972 and Hattie's in 1975".   Did they die in Toronto?

Do you have marriage date for Margaret Ross to James Kenneth Young?  I have them mentioned in John Ross's obit from the Olds Gazette but dismissed it because it was 1981 and I don't remember the name of Margaret's 2nd or 3rd husband at that time but I am sure John Cooper was her first husband.  Well i am now about to give up on this family as its looking like i have the wrong Walter Ross.

I have so much information on this family now since I have been working with the Olds Gazette archives can't believe I have wrong family.  I did just find a Walter Ross in Lethbridge so will check him out.  Thanks

Daganta:

If you have the same info I have on our Walter Ross & Hattie Crealock, it looks like they are one of the same. Hattie Crealock daughter of Samuel Crealock was b. in 1896 & d. 1975. I don't know where they died.

I don't have a marriage date for Margaret (Peggy) Ross b. 1931 in Olds, Alberta and James Kenneth (Ken) Young b. 1933 and d. 2003 farm accident Peers, Alberta. Ken was her only husband.
