inverness Birth Info Please

Walter Ross born 2 Feb 1807 was son of William Ross Abernety and Kincardine, Moray (died 1862) and his wife Margaret Falconer.
Margaret Falconer (born 1773) was daughter of William Falconer and Margaret Cameron at Torrich and Geddes, Nairn.
William Falconer born 10 May 1730 was son of John Falconer (b abt 1690 and died after 1754) at Bellone of Geddes, and then perhaps Reriach, and his wife Ann McLean.
The Falconers had been farming at Belone of Geddes since at least mid 17th century, when an Alexander (father or grandfather of John and Colin there beginning 18th century was possessor).
So here is part of your family history! At what point did your family emigrate and where to?

Hi Jane,

Thank you so much for the info. Walter Ross & Elizabeth McDonald Ross left Scotland on May 26, 1906 on the S.S. Numdian and arrived in Canada June 6, 1906. They moved straight to Olds, Alberta, Canada. He died 1912. He had won first & second prize for his vegetables and flowers at the Olds Fair for a few years.

Hi..just found this thread.  I think we may share Walter Ross of Olds Alberta.  My mother in law was Margaret Ross daughter of Walter Ross of Inverness Scotland and who lived in Olds Alberta.  And I have been given the information on winning gardening awards and may have a note on it, have to find it.  My ex husband passed away ..his mother margaret and her father were both alive when my son was born in 1979 ..but Margaret passed away a couple years later .  Have you got any more information on him as I cannot see the dates lining up unless there is a Walter Jr?  thanks

So I am thinking Walter jr born 1893 would be my son's  ggrandfather.  He was in his 80's I remember when we had a pic taken of him with the baby in 1979.  so now i have to search him out.  BTW I was told by my ex-husbands best friend that it was our Walter Ross who won the gardening awards but I think it was in BC I have to check.

I have Walter Jr. b.  Jan. 22, 1896 Gollanfield, Inverness son of Walter Ross & Elizabeth McDonald Ross Ross. Walter jr. married to Hattie Crealock. They had 2 children that I know of:  a Jack Creakock Ross and Barbara Ann Ross.
Do we have the same family?

Forgot to write that I have a Margaret Ross b. June 20, 1931 in Olds, Alberta, daughter of John Ross and Susie Margaret Fisher. Margaret married James Kenneth Young.

don't know if i am getting closer or this is getting stranger..I believe Maggie was born in olds and that year would be right..but I know her father was Walter from Inverness ..I only met him once ..the picture of him and the four generations from early '80s is in Toronto.  I remember he was really old.  My husband's mother Margaret (ross) married a John (Kenneth) Cooper in Edmonton Alberta I think as that was where Ken was born ...I believe that was his middle name as my husband's name was Kenneth John Cooper.  i recently took the info off a letter and wrote it down and then sent the letter to my son as it was addressed to him after his father died.  I will look in my car tomorrow as it may be in a file in there.i am in transit this week.  Thanks for all this info btw.  where did you get this margaret's info..?  I wonder if he was Walter John Ross?  or John Walter Ross?  I may shortly sign up for another free trial on ancestry and see what i can find there.

The Walter Ross Jr. I have did live in Toronto. He married Hattie Crealock Sept. 12, 1923 in Toronto. Not sure if we have the same Walter cause I have his death in 1972 and Hattie's in 1975.

yes def different Walter Ross .. I will pull my files or check with my son soon to see if i have any more info.  I think it is two different walter ross ' from inverness and olds alberta.  or maybe even 2 jr's as well.  I saw a lot of ross from scotland in olds but I never heard any stories about my ex husbands family there and they are all gone now... I will get back to you when i have something concrete.  thanks
