I'll be in Strathglass in the next few weeks visiting Catholic burial grounds at St Mary's Eskadale and Clachan Comar.

Hi Alastair,
Did you create a headstone list from your visit to these cemeteries in 2007?

I am trying to find more details of Valentine Chisholm's (born 1827) family, his parents were Alexander and Mary, and he had a sister Mary (who came to Australia with a cousin Christopher).  Valentine's family lived in the Strathglass at Balnahaun next to Clachan Comar.  Valentine came to Australia in 1848, owned a farm near Ballarat and named his house 'Knockfin.'

Cheers,

Hi Judy.

I don't have a list as such - I was just visiting really - but I do have some headstone photos and records of many of the Strathglass Chisholms.
The best place to go online for your enquiry is the "Chisholm Genealogies International" forum where you will find a discussion on Valentine's family from two or three years ago. It would be worth logging on and reviving that topic in case something new has come up since then.
Once you have signed on you will need to post a short introductory note after which you will have access to the whole forum.

Hi Alistair

I am getting this message:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I am on Firefox (but tried also on IE). Maybe just me?!

Ah, now there seems to be a problem linking to the page from this URL!
I tried the link myself and found myself banned from the site in the same way. I had to go into my administration page and unban myself!

So the best way (I've disabled the hyperlink in my earler post) is to cut and paste the address directly into your browser. The trouble is that anyone who has attempted to access the link will now find themselves banned in this way and I can only unban them if I know their IP address - if you are able to tell me your IP address I can get you access.

Sorry about that - I'm not sure why my server doesn't like the link ...

Hi Alastair

Sorry, didn't mean to cause a fuss re the link ~Thought you might be connected to it so always good to be alerted to possible problems.

I am not connected to Chisholm so don't need access really (just as always curious and interested!). However, I tried what you suggested, copying over the URL, and linking that way and it seems to work (to the intro page as you commented).

Sounds like the site would be useful to many with Chisholm lines.
