Death/burial/obituary help
« on: Saturday 23 June 07 19:51 BST (UK) »
Folks,
I am trying to locate the graves/obits of John Bromage died 1898 and his wife Eliza Bromage who died in 1903. They lived in Stockdale Road in both the 1891 and 1901 Census's.
I am looking for possibly obits and their graves as it is a mystery to what happened to their son Henry who was on the 1891 Census but not 1901 anywhere in the country in any spelling etc etc.
I cannot find his death and have tried everything so am now taking a different way around it...I can but try.
If anyone could hep I would really appreciate it
Jan

Henry was born in 1849 in Northants so would have been 54 when his mother died.

Who reported Eliza's death in 1903 - if it was Henry then you will  know he was still alive at that time.  It will also show his address

I have a copy of his birth in 1850, and since posting here, have found his death and have the cert.
I would still like to know if there was an obit for either him or his parents.
Thanks
Jan

Hi

If somebody is willing to look through obituary entries for you, they would really need to know the actual dates of death for all 3 family members to narrow down the search

HI JAN.
IF I GET A VIEWER AT DERBY LOCAL STUDIES ON SATURDAY I WILL HAVE A LOOK AT THE BURIAL INDEX'S, FOR Uttoxetter Old Road Cemetery, (just around the corner from Stockbrook Street, but mainly the wealthy buried here, but good chance of a grave if there), St Luke's Church (right across the road from 184 Stockbrook Street, sadly now paved up to the front door, and new houses all around, graves moved to Nottingham Road, in unmarked mass graves, i think) also Nottingham Road Cemetery ( popular for the masses, 50/50 chance of a showing grave, ownership normally lasted 50 years and somebody else buried on top of you) obituary's for the period again hit and miss, mainly the wealthy or well known, but worth a look.

You are a diamond, but I have just found out where they are all buried!!
Thay are all in Nottingham Road Cemetery!!All in common graves!!Unfortunately, they are all in separate graves.
I had rung the Cemetery Office and a very helpful chap named Clive called me this morning.
Thanks for all the help, and if there is anything I can do, dont hesitate to ask
