Henry Turner (born circa 1812)
« on: Saturday 23 June 07 19:18 BST (UK) »
Dear All

I am looking for information on Henry Turner of Leeds a bootmaker turned civil enginer. He was born in Ashover Derbyshire. I have various census entries for him and believe he died between 1881 an 1891 but do not know when or where

Can anyone one help

Thanks
Pete

Hi,

If I am looking at the right family in 1881 RG11/4498  f.65  p.38 Holbeck, Yorkshire then amongst their children are Frederick W and Sarah L.

In 1891 Henry's wife Sarah seems to be living/staying with son Frederick W at RG12/3229  f.107  p.79  Oldham, Lancashire, but her marital status is hard to work out it doesn't quite look like any of the other markings on the page  :-\

I'm hoping she is married because I think this is Henry in 1891 living with daughter Sarah L, transcribed as TURNEY,

1891  RG12/3560  f.14  p.1  Thurstonland, Yorkshire
Tanyard

Henry TURNER  Head  M  79   Living on own means    Derby Ashover
Sarah L            Daur   S  22    Assistant Teacher         Yorks Leeds

Thurstonland was in the Registration District of Huddersfield so this may be Henry's death,

Henry TURNER  age:80  Jun Q  1893  Huddersfield  v.9a  p.199

Henry living in Thurstonland looks good as in 1901 his wife Sarah is living there with her married daughter Sarah L and husband Arthur PONTEFRACT  RG13/4098  f.17  p.8.

Please let me know if you need full details of the censuses I have mentioned.

Regards
Daisy

Daisy

Thanks, that is excellent, you have the right person. I will follow up your lead.

I obviously missed the Turney ref and read too much into Sarah living with her son.

Thanks again  :)

Kind regards
Pete

Hello my name is Elaine and I am also linked to this family from Henry. My link is through his son James Yates Turner. I hope either Pete or Daisy are still interested in exchanging some info.
Look forward to talking to you.

Hi Elaine,

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

I am not linked to this family, I was just helping Pete with his research. Unfortunately it doesn't look like he has used this site since 2012 but it might be worth sending him a PM (personal message) and if he's still using the same email address he will get a notification that there is a message for him.

To send a PM click on the page icon underneath Pete's name.

Regards,
Daisy
