At RG10/2393 Folio 29 Page 8 a Jane Stower aged 53 from Charlton Adam is living with a George James and his wife Mary (aged 42 from Charlton Mackrell) and family. She is described as Sister in Law. You may be able to find these people yourself in 1881.

The deaths for James and Charlotte will be the two registered in Langport between 1871 and 1881, I would think.

I cannot see any obvious sign of brother Joseph after the 1851 census. Is it possible that he (and George & Eliza) emigrated before 1861 ?

I thought that you might also like this. There is a chance that these might be Maria’s parents (but it is only a possibility until it is proven by some other means). If only the 1851 census had said something other than “Lodger” for Phillip

Wow! I can't believe my good fortune having you on board to help so much. It is very much appreciated. My head is spinning trying to grasp the possibilities so I've decided to absorb the help you have given me so far - fill some charts out and ponder which direction to go next.

I was delighted to find the Parish Transcript of Charlton Mackrell on line which enabled me to find the baptisms of each of James and Charlotte Stowers children. Sadly no marriage record of the above couple.   Do you think Charlotte's maiden name will be listed on her death certificate?

Once again many thanks for your help and generosity. One week ago I had no idea where George and Eliza Stower came from and now all this......

Unfortunately the maiden name is not found on English death certificates. Scottish records are far superior in terms of what information they contain.
