John Thomas Ball, Salford

G'day!

So I finally have a birthdate of my Great Grandfather, now how do I obtain a copy of his Birth Certificate, so I can find his parents details..??

Probably a really dull question with an easy answer..!

Oh yeah, it is 4 April 1874, but he doesn't seem to appear on the census' for some reason. Born at 'St John's, Salford, Lancashire' to John Thomas & Frances Ball

Any help would be great... am kinda new to this stuff!

The siblings I have for him are 'Ethel' & 'Frances' and a couple of unknowns. That is not to say they came after the census was taken.

Are there any more possibles...?? I know the birthday is correct due to it being in JT's wife's diary in the war years, and the year comes from his Army papers. That is the stuff I know for sure, the rest is a bit sketchy!

Agree with Alison - there's only one John Thomas Ball registered in Salford Lancashire, both on FreeBMD and LancashireBMD

GRO reference is
June quarter 1872 (right quarter for an April birth)
Salford 8d 62

Seems John Thomas (now Thomas) is remarried to a Mary A in 1891, with children age 5 and less, none of which are called Frances or Ethel  :P By 1901, he's in Wales...

Can't see little John in 1891 so far ...

Hmmm,

I think there is an error on the Attestation paper. His death certificate is attached, which would put the date as 4 April 1871? Would this make the birth certificate you have found correct..??
