cannot find the birth certificate for Kate, but have found her mother Mary Ann's marriage certificate.

Mary Ann's father was William Earthrall who was deceased. He was a labourer.  Mary Ann was classed as spinster.

thanks suffolk-sue

just found her birth certificate amongst my many piles of paper. She was born on 2nd September 1874 at home.  No father given.  Her mother married her stepfather the same month
