Hi Anne,
Is here not a nice pub where we can have a pub lunch and a drink of course. :)
At meets here we ring a nice pub up and ask if it is ok for what ever number
of people to have a meet and lunch, and we are made very welcome, so if the
numbers go down then no fee is expected, but I have no worries if we have to pay a fee. they would be making just as much as if we were ordinary customers.
it's just a thought.

Margaret.

The Church which was formerly St Mary's Church in Mary Street is a good spot.

These sound tasty ... Beef in Guinness, Irish Oak Smoked Salmon, Smoked Duck Salad, Clonakilty Black Pudding, Vine salad and Seafood Chowder.

O'Neills of Suffolk Street offer a wide range of sandwiches, salads and snacks.

You can see the Poddle flowing under the glass floor at the Ba Mizu

Davy Byrnes has an excellent reputation for pub grub.

Hi Mags,

The Poddle is one of Dublin's rivers.

The others are the Dodder, the Liffey and the Tolka.

Just looking at suggested venues... I am no good as do not venture much into the city in the evening or even by day.  Is this to be a daytime meet or evening?  If daytime I would remark that Mary Street and Suffolk Street are on/near very busy Saturday shopping areas and could be crowded.  If Mary Street is regular restaurant then could just book a couple of tables to solve that problem.

Back to numbers again.  Any idea?

As a backup/supplementary place I would mention the cafe attached to Pearse Street library, open from 10 to 5 pm and usually very quiet.  They do good soup/sandwiches/coffee etc.   But I cannot think of anywhere within walking distance of there for better food though quite a few hotels with decent lounge areas such as Davonport, Mont Clare and Alexander.  Also Holiday Inn on Pearse Street.  Hotels might suit for general gathering before heading to restaurant/pub.  Too many pricey places to eat in city!

April 5th is br in law's 60th birthday so I may not be free to come in evening :(
