It's strange how unlike their avatars everyone looked :D The craic was mighty and following a bit of mooting we decided it might be an idea to have a much larger meet in Dublin in September 2008 with Thursday and Friday being for research, with possibly tours to archives and cemeteries accompanied by an Irish member, and a social evening on the Saturday.

Who wants to look like a derelict pub?!

A very enjoyable evening. I hope I didn't cramp Christopher's style. I think he would have been quite happy to be the only man there surrounded by all those beautiful girls!

Roll on next year.

P.S. looking forward to seeing the new "Mo" online soon.

It was like being surrounded by contestants for the Rose of Tralee Contest. Everyone a winner ... wouldn't you say so . Ronnie ???

Employees of Kildare, or is it Athy, Council had better brush up on foreign languages as Celtic Diamond claims she doesn't speak English.  :D

I'm looking forward to the 2008 Dublin Meet.
Can we not have some smaller meets in Dublin more regularly than once a year ???

" She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer,
Yet 'twas not her beauty alone that won me.
Oh no, 'twas the truth in her eyes ever dawning
That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee."

Should we time it to coincide with a Rubgy International ???

If there are only the six of us we could save you travelling too far and meet in Athy, Damsel :D

I received a message from a friend as I asked her about a song about Dublin which included the line "Where the strawberry beds sweep down to the Liffey" She told me it's in a song called The Ferryman by a guy born in Dublin, who is now a prolific songwriter, Pete St John. The Dublin City Ramblers sing several of Pete's songs ...  There's a lovely, one on YouTube, called "Dublin In My Tears" which has some lovely old Dublin photographs.
