West Derby Cemetry
« on: Tuesday 12 June 07 18:46 BST (UK) »
I have some information for you:
Is there a kind soul out there who could visit this cemetery and send me a digital photograph of the grave.

James Walker, buried in West Derby Cemetery, 10th June 1892, aged 33, engine fitter.

Burial number 6280,
Mode of burial: purchase (don't know what that means)
Section 8, grave 200, Church of England section
Ceremony performed by Rev. J.C. Onions (believe it or not!)

I live to far away from Liverpool, and really would appreciate the picture to continue with family tree. Also looking for his late wife Wilhelmina Agnes Walker (nee Grant) not sure if she is in the same grave.

much appreciate

Cheers, that would be great, I would like to get there some time, but don't see it happening in the near future. A photograph of My great great  grandfather James Walker is what set me off researching my family tree so finding his grave at last (i Hope) will add to my research. My understanding is that he was given an overdose of Chloroform durng a simple operation and never retained consciousness. Aged only 33, his wife died the following year she was Wilhelmina Agnes Walker, i hope shes around there too

much appreciated

Hi DJer007,

my friend gjil told me you went into the chatroom last night.

Do you know which hospital he died in? Or, do you have an address for them? The name of the church they where married in and a date might help to gather info too.

Hello red

He died in the Liverpool Infirmary 6th June 1892, home address at the time was 80a Boundary Lane, west Derby, Liverpool.
he actually married near where I live in Cumbria, this was Egremont at St Mary & St Michael's Church November 4th 1877.
I have him in the 1891 census at the above address, not sure if this area exists now?, or the address before that in 1881 was 3 in 3 Court Lad Lane. his occupation is engineer, (Engine Fitter), again I'd like to find out, but i don't know what field of engineering he was in

thanks again

I will see what I can find next time I go. no probs.

Presumably, you gathered some of your information from a coroners report? If not, I will look for you when I go. James would have had an inquest into his death.

Hello red

i managed to find death certs for them both, this solved an old family rumour that he died young and his wife Wilhelmina died of a broken heart, this sort of is true because she died the following year with cancer, probably brought on with the stress and shock etc of loosing my gr gr grandfather at such a young age. If you could obtain any other info like inquest material , coroners report or news paper entries a would be very grateful.

Thanks again

I have been to the cemetery today. I have a couple of photographs of the gravestone. A bit damaged, I'm afraid. If you pm me with your email addy, I will send them to you.

The other info will have to wait a bit, cos the RO is closed at the mo.
