Hello again

Jap

I think you might be right. I could not find a Forkinbridge anywhere. ;D

Hi Pels

Thanks for checking (and for keeping your hat on). ;)

This is an interesting (but somewhat confusing) entry

1861

West Bromwich RG9/2024 Folio 31 Page 24

Thomas Sutton (?) Head M 47 Weight Juster Staffordshire West Bromwich
Sarah do Wife M 48 Staffordshire West Bromwich
Selina do Daur U 17 Staffordshire West Bromwich
George do Son 14 Staffordshire West Bromwich
Caroline do Daur 10 Staffordshire West Bromwich
Joseph do Son 7 Staffordshire West Bromwich

Thomas Street, West Bromwich

This looks like the same family to me but I cannot explain why they should be called Sutton.

Thats the family I've just found too, and would appear to be the family I found in 1841. Is Sutton an "alias"?  :-\

Hi Pilgrims Progress

We seem to have found a chink of light and it should now be possible to find most of the individual members of the family (under whatever name they happen to be using ;D).

This seems to be the Possible Marriage Registration for Caroline (for instance)

1870 West Bromwich JFM quarter 6b 799

James Pearce
Caroline Vennors

...and the family seems to appear on the censuses as follows....

1881 RG11/2845 Folio 85 Page 23 (Surname Pace)

1891 RG12/2269 Folio 77 Page 23 (Surname Peace)

1901 RG13/2723 Folio 114 Page 20 (Surname Pace)

You can, of course, look at the 1881 census yourself, free of charge, but if you would like the full details of the others please let us know.

DS

ps

Cat. Just spotted your post before I hit the button this time ;D. They have a couple of Perks nephews with them in 1901, so it looks as if Selina might have married Eli

Pels, Re your post #7.  There's no doubt in my mind that it reads VENERUS.  The up-stroke of the 'V' fairly pale, and the final 's' a long s.  But no doubt.

DS et al, I looked at FALCONBRIDGE because the pronunciation is (in my view) the same as FORKENBRIDGE.  Where I live we pronounce Falcon phonetically as it appears (Fal-con) - but I'm well aware that the original pronunciation (or at least the 'posh' pronunciation) of the bird was Forken.

Let's hope that Pilgrims Progress will tell us what the occupation of Dad is on George's Scottish (such wonderful information on them) marriage and death certs.
