Quinn Family
« on: Saturday 09 June 07 03:39 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any history on Ann Quinn b 1837 in Count Clare?
Her parents were James [a farmer] and Mary [ I think Cunningham, but hard to read].
Ann was married in Chiltern Victoria Australia  14th July 1860 to Edmond Fitzmaurice. Edmond hailed from County Kerry

Any information appreciated

Hi r_hanger,

I am also looking for Quinns. Barnet (Barnie) Quinn born 1817 & his wife Ellen Quinn nee Daly, born 1811.  I have no idea of the parish but think their religion was Presbyterian as my dad is a Quinn & he is Presbyterian as his father before him was.
The other thing I discovered is when the family left Ireland & went to Yorkshire sometime between 1846 & 1850, they were known as 'McQuin' & later changed to Quinn. So now I am searching McQuin, McQuinn, Quinn, Quin, O'Quinn, O'Quin.
I have an Ann Quinn but that is her married name & she was born around 1841. I wish you luck on your search. If I see Ann in any of my research I will let you know.
Kind Regards,
Shelley ???

Hi r_hanger,
I too am searching for more info on parents of Anne Quinn and Edmund Fitzmaurice. Anne and Edmund were my paternal great grandparents. They eventually moved from Victoria to New South Wales, which is where they both died. They are buried at Rookwood Catholic Cemetery Section G, Mortuary 1, Grave No. 730. I have a photo of their headstone if you are interested and also a copy of their Marriage Registration. Have you had any success with details on James Quinn/Mary Cunningham or Thomas Fitzmaurice/Margaret Moore or Morse. If so, I would love to hear from you.
Regards Jeri

Hi Jeri,
Sorry to report that I have not made any progress on this line, which I was researching for a friend. However I have passed your information on to them so hopefully they will make contact with you. There line was Mary Ann FITZMAURICE b 1861 in Rutherglen and married William Henry JOHNSTONE.

Please get back to me if you dont have any reply.

Thanks for your help Rachel. I figured there was no harm in trying, you never know what luck will come your way. All the best with your research, it can be so frustrating at times but every little clue is an amazing discovery, I love it.

Hi Jeri
Rachel passed your message on
Our Fitzmaurice comes from Mary Ann, whose parents were James Fitzmaurice (Born
NSW 1832 to James and Mary Unknown)  and Mary Jane Gaddas
Siblings of James (1832) is unknown
We have no Quinns in that side of the family that I know of.
