Hi Jane,
I've had a quick look. Thomas Sharp b 1806 Syston (Married Ann Shaw) had children ranging from Thomas b 1829 to Sarah 1850. Thomas b 1806 only had one sister Mary. Their parents were William sharp b 1777 (married Mary Jarvis). William b 1777 had the following siblings...George 1779, Thomas 1782, Jane 1784, Mary 1786 and Ann 1790.

So it would seem that there is no connection :'(
I will keep a note of your Sharps in my file just in case!
