HI,

I too seek Martha's parents.

That is if your Martha was born 1798 - 1873 burried 22 Jul 1873 Ashwick, Gurney Bottom Nr  Binegar

James is the main ancestor as I am a Young too.

I am of the line of James Brother William.

I have it that Martha & James had nine children.  Do you have the same?

I have a Henry Huish b 1795 Ashwick, his son was James 1817 and his son was Henry 1832 who married a Hannah.

Henry b 1795 was Martha's brother.

Do you have that?

Any other details I would be happy to exchange with you if I can.

Yours

Hello PeterY,

I believe we could be related.

I am the GGG Grandson of James Young b.1799 and Martha Huish b1798.

James above's father seem to be William Young b.1760, his wife is Elizabeth b.1772 (From Chilcompton, Somerset). They are listed in the 1841 cesus as living next door to a Joeseph Young (Perhaps a brother to William and James Young).

Their son James Young b.1836 he married Elizabeth Wiltshire b.1839 (From Liddington, Wiltshire) at Binegar.

Their son Charles Young b.1870,  moved to a small mining village named Clandown near Radstock, Somerset.

Here he met and married Elizabeth Robbins b.1869, married 1891.
Their daughter Emily (My grandmother) married George (My grandfather).

Hope that this helps.

Please post again if this ties in.

Regards,

Earl.

I wonder if she is a daughter of Henry HUISH and Sarah PIERCE who were married at Ashwick on 10 January 1791?

You both sound about right though I have slightly different dates which accounts for the variation you tend to find in different records.  ???

I have Elizabeth Wiltshire as being from Binegar B 1839 D 3 April 1911 :-\
Henry Young I have as 1836 B Ashwick D 30 Apr 1912 Ashwick  :-\
Elizabeth's father was a Henry Huish Married to an Elizabeth( Now I know her last name)
The rest is as you have it.  :D

Therefore your tree and my own are the same.
I have a total of 889 individuals in mine stretching though my Fathers side ,my Mother's side and my wife's parents side.

James had William George Joseph and Mary for Bro's and sis's.

William is as you say and is my G,G,G,G,Grandfather Through James Brother William's line

I just noticed a major jump of the gun:

I have Henry Young 1836  Marrying Elizabeth Wiltshire and they had 10 Children as per the 1881 census including Charles.

I have their son Charles marrying a Sarah and having 4 children none of which is an Emily

So where have things gone wrong.

I also have Henry Huish Marrying a Sarah Pierce
They had Martha 1798 who married James and a Henry1795
Henry 1795 had a Son James 1817 who had a son Henry 1833 who married a Hannah.

I will check all my records and get back

Hello Peter,

Thanks for your swift reply.

I think that you may be a little confused, not hard, as I have been many times whilst trying to unravel my family tree.

My line is defiantly Henry Young b.1835 in Emborough, Somerset. His wife was Elizabeth Wiltshire b.1839 in Liddington, Wiltshire.
He was an agricultural labourer in Binegar and she was a house maid in the rectory also in Binegar. Their head stone is in Binegar church yard.

Their son Charles Young b.1870 in Binegar moved to Clandown, Somerset to work as a brewer, there he met Elizabeth Robbins b.1869.
They had several children (quantity unknown), but one of them was Emily b.1895 in Clandown, she married George b.1892 in Clandown.

I too have many names in my family tree, and will also share if you do not mind.

Also thanks to Philip Candy, I am sure you are right and will look these names up .

Regards,

Earl.

In case it's useful, I have James HUISH as the first son of Henry and Sarah, born about 1792. He married Ann (Nancy) CANDY at Shepton Mallet on 28 December 1812 and they had at least three children.

What's interesting about this is the fact that other members of the Huish family named their sons James and, secondly, since this was Henry's first child, it may suggest that his father's name was James, although this is just supposition.

In looking around on the web, I note that one of the witnesses at Martha's marriage to James YOUNG in Binegar in 1821 was Thomas HUISH. Since he is almost certainly a relative, this could be another link to follow up.

Kind regards

Philip Candy
