Hi again  ;D

Yes I am online, it is 8:245pm here, I am in Australia.. :D

I do not have a Cross Lazenby in my line that I am aware of, unless he was a cousin or it is a nick name... My Lazenby's are from Middleton in Yorkshire, I have no idea if that is anywhere near the towns you mentioned, do you?

THere are lots of Middletons.

3 in W Yorkshire and 1 in N Yorkshire

Middleton: 20 miles west of Leeds,
Middleton: 20 miles south of Middlesbrough

My Lazenbys moved to the Middlesbrough area about 1868  I think...they lived in Eston, Grangetown, Stockton,
Middlesbrough, Lazenby, etc....maybe yours are connected there?

Where do you live?

Middleton Tyas, does that help?  I need English geography lessons, obviously... I have my Lazenby's in Middleton Tyas back to 1735.  I don't know where they were before that?

I am in Eastern Australia, in Central Victoria.

Cheers

Middleton tyas...appears to be about 20 miles west  of
the Middlesbrough area where My Lazenbys lived in 1870s

I used the site:  curiousfox.org.uk (places and people)
and found some Lazenby's there looking for other Lazenbys:
"searching for Ellen Lazenby who married Francis Atkinson, they had a son, Francis born in 1845 they lived in Middleton Tyas."
Maybe they are related to you?

We sure are talking "long distance"...Australia ..Canada

Hi Carolyn

Yep, a long distance.  That is what is so great about Rootschat, you get to meet people from everywhere..  I love it.

I checked my tree, no Ellen's so far, but I will keep that site and check it out, thank you for that.   I am beginning to think that Lazenby might be a very common name in Yorkshire, it is very uncommon over here.  My Nanna was Alice Lazenby Gibbon, so the family name was still being used in 1885 when she was born here in Australia.

Lazenbys are NOT so commom in Canada.

Our line emigrated from Middlesbrough, England in 1910

We have traced back only to about 1780...a Samuel Lazenby...Yorkshire

It's been interesting talking with you...Carolyn

It has been interesting talking to you too Carolyn  :).

You never know we might find a connection in the future and we can talk again.  I will keep you in mind and let you know if I find anything that links to the Lazenby's you have mentioned.  I would be obliged if you would do the same with my lot.  There could be a common ground somewhere..

Cheers

We are keen to learn more about Cross Lazenby, lived Beeford and Harpham, East Yorkshire. We know he was a lay preacher and we have visited the area and seen the probable chapel he preached in. His son, Samuel, moved to London. Looking for an obituary.
