ROBSON family Throston, Hartlepool
« on: Wednesday 06 June 07 04:49 BST (UK) »
Searching for information about the Robson family who lived at the above as well as Whitby.  Similar msg posted on the North Yorkshire board.

Sarah Elizabeth Brewster married Thomas Robson (born 1866, location unknown).  Thomas was a merchant seaman.  They lived in Throston, Hartlepool at the time of th 1901 Census, this is confirmed by the presence of Sarah's brother.  Thomas is not listed on the census, it is presumed that he may have been at sea.  I have his death confirmed in 1933 in Whitby.

Their immediate neighbor was John Snowden Robson (born 1848 Whitby), looking to find a link between the two families.  John S Robson and Sarah's brother were both noted as labourers in a ship yard.

Any ideas?

Do you have the marriage certificate for them?  Earlier census?  If you could confirm what other info you have it will save us duplicating things you already know.  How old was Thomas when he died?
All BMDs are free to search on www.ancestry.co.uk   Scroll down on the home page and click the link.  It may take some time but the marriage is important as it will give Thomas' age and his father's name.  The witnesses may be useful too.

Hello and thank you for your help.

I do have their marriage certificate.
Married by Banns, Whitby Parish Church, 13 May 1894.
Thomas' age is a little difficult to read, it looks like 27 or 28 (bringing his birth year to circa 1866).
Labourer, lived in Church Street Whitby, father's name George, deceased, fisherman.
Witnesses to the marriage were Thomas Brewster (relationship unknown at present) and Dora Ann Brewster, Sarah's sister.

Thomas' death was 21 September 1933, age 67, Middle Hospital Yard, Whitby.  Interred Larpool Lane Cemetery 25 September 1933.  Cause of death was Myocardis and Chronic Bronchitis.

I don't know alot about Parish records, but I am going to try and get his marriage and death record to see if they have any more information than his GRO records did.  I don't have any earlier census as I have found no matches yet.
