1841 Census look up please. PETER STREET
« on: Tuesday 05 June 07 21:50 BST (UK) »
I am trying to gather more information about my 3 x Gt Grandfather, PETER STREET born about 1789,    If still alive, he would have been 52 in 1841.   All I have is his name on my Gt Gt Grandfather's ( SAMUEL Street) marriage cert.
SAMUEL  was born in WARRINGTON in 1814 and married Ellen Yates (b 1817) in St Elphins Parish Church, Warrington, in 1836.    PETER was present at the Wedding so he might have lived in the Warrington area in 1841, but I have no evidence to support that theory.  I know it's a long shot but any help or advice would be very much appreciated

Hi Donna,
When you were searching for Peter Street did you come accross his son, (my GT GT Grandfather) SAMUEL ?? He was born in Warrington in 1814 and would have been 27 in 1841.  The earliest Census record I have found is 1871 when, aged 57 he was a Beer House Keeper at 33 Crown Street, Hulme, Manchester and living with his wife, ELLEN (nee Smith) and 2 sons.

Ian Headford.

Hi, Daisy,
Fantastic, yes that is definitely my Samuel and family, and the 1861 entry also has my Gt Grandfather, JOSEPH STREET aged 8 listed.  I had no idea that JOSEPH had siblings, Well done.   I was brought up in the Manchester area and the local word for a lorry was always pronounced as "lurry".
Once again, many thanks for your help it is very much appreciated.
