My great-grandfather, Samuel Jones, was born in the Henley Union workhouse on 24 Jun 1858, to Mary Jones. I've never been able to find the name of the father. Samuel was still in the workhouse for the 1871 census, but Mary had disappeared. It also appears pretty certain that the same Mary Jones was delivered of a daughter Caroline 9 years earlier in the same workhouse, on 6 Oct 1849. Again, no father identified.
I can find no evidence of a filming of the records of the workhouse in FamilySearch. Can anyone tell me where the records, if they survive, might be found, and how I might access them?
Cheers, Roger
