Good morning.
Have checked the 1871 census and according to that, John Townsend's parents were Benjamin and Charity Pratley. So it seems that CharityTownsend had John before she married?

1871 Census
Benjamin Pratley 43
Charity 36
John Townsend son  14
George Pratley son 11
Bemjamin   "      "  8
Lancelott  "  "   5
Lucy daughter 1.

Do you think this is correct?

Hi There

I thought I would let you know that there are a lot of Townsend's on the parish registers for Charlbury - I don't know if they are anything to do with yours though

Charlbury is not very far from Leafield. But Townsend and Pratley are very common Oxfordshire names.
