Hello quarrywood,
Welcome to RC and the crazy part of RC.
Best regards George
Scan at 300 plus for restores please. Scan at larger dpi for small photos. Don't forget to crop the scanner bed out! (Them's the white bits)
Please feel free to alter any work by me for the benefit of the Poster.

Hi Quarrywood
Fantastic photo! However, it would not be possible for it to be from 1842 because glass-based photographs were not invented until the early 1850s. This one looks like it's from the 1860s at least. Old Rowley would be able to help with a date for it, he knows all about gents' fashion history!
I don't suppose your BONSALLs have any connection to Matlock or Tansley in Derbyshire, do they? That's where mine come from, although back a bit further there is a Nottingham connection.
