Scan at 300 plus for restores please. Scan at larger dpi for small photos. Don't forget to crop the scanner bed out! (Them's the white bits)

Hi Quarrywood  :)

Fantastic photo!  However, it would not be possible for it to be from 1842 because glass-based photographs were not invented until the early 1850s.  This one looks like it's from the 1860s at least.  Old Rowley would be able to help with a date for it, he knows all about gents' fashion history!

I don't suppose your BONSALLs have any connection to Matlock or Tansley in Derbyshire, do they?  That's where mine come from, although back a bit further there is a Nottingham connection.
