Below is a copy of a post I created a couple of weeks ago, but I don't think you may have read it yet.  I'm new to this game so I may have gone about things the wrong way.  I have more detailed information if that's of any help.

Thomas Vallance moved with wife Marion to 189 Pitt Street, Glasgow where he died on 16th February 1935.
There are minor errors in the earlier postings.
He was born in 1856 at Succoth in the parish of Cardross, West Dumbartonshire.
The reference to 'Nallance' is an error as the surname is definitely Vallance.

Do you have anything on Thomas's ancestors?

I've been researching his nephew (Thomas V., son of James V. and Jane Calder White, born 1874 in Fife and married 1904 in Drymen, Stirlingshire to Catherine MacGregor).

I have the parents of Thomas and James as Thomas V. and Janet Torrance, married 1842 at Barony, Lanark. I have their father as being born about 1820 in Lesmahagow, Lanark, son of James V. and Lydia Watson.

- I'm George Gall McGregor's grandson; he moved to Canada. After they married, Thomas Vallance (b. 1874) and my great-aunt Catherine McGregor lived in Alloa.

 
Your description of Thomas Vallance (b.1856) the footballer made me curious so I did some Google searches. The second site has a picture of him and an 1892/1893 ad for his restaurant. Apparently he didn't help found the Rangers FC; that was done by Peter Campbell, Peter McNeil, Moses McLay McNeil and William McBeath. However, he was its first captain, the first Ranger to play with the national team and the President of the club from 1883 to 1889. The early team had three McNeil brothers, three Campbell brothers and two Vallance brothers (Thomas and Alexander).

Some of the match reports for his games list him as Thomas C Vallance. Do you know what his middle name was?

Nice to hear from you.  I'm the grandson of Tom Vallance (born 1874) and Catherine McGregor (died in 1952 was my grandmother.. 

The above TV's uncle Tom Vallance was one of the founder members of Rangers FC.  I have a book passed on to me published in 1923 about the first fifty years of the club and the book specifically mentions that point.  It also mentions the McNeil brothers, Peter Campbell and Wm McBeath.

The match reports were mistaken as he didn't have a middle name.  I have a copy  of his birth certificate.  There are other postings which indicate he was born in Shandon.  This is not the case.  He moved to Shandon as a boy years later.

I'll come back about Lydia Watson later.  Need to go.

I am the great-granddaughter of Thomas and Catherine vallance.
My grandad is Gerorge McGregor - Born 1 Jan 1910. He married Jane Gray nee Taylor  I think in 1936. They had 2 children - George Roy (my dad) and Jane.
They emigrated to South Africa in 1946.
I am aslo trying to trace my family tree.

I'm posting another message in an endeavour to get in touch.  I was so sorry to hear about your dad and his sister Jane.  They were 1st cousins of mine. 
If you can respond to this I'll fill you in with more details about your family tree. 
PS Your grandfather moved to Alloa when he was about 12 years of age, but was born in a large estate called Cardean near a small village in Perthshire called Meigle.

It is great finally meeting some of the family. When my day and family moved to SA in the 40's they lost contact with the family (as far as I know).
