WeeDougal said "Which Thomas Vallance do you want more information on?"
-I was curious about James Vallance and Lydia Watson. Where was he born, where were they married, when did they die, etc?
"Are you descended from George McGregor, born 9th March 1875 at Ibert Farm, Drymen?"
- I'm George Gall McGregor's grandson; he moved to Canada. After they married, Thomas Vallance (b. 1874) and my great-aunt Catherine McGregor lived in Alloa.
Your description of Thomas Vallance (b.1856) the footballer made me curious so I did some Google searches. The best descriptions are at

http://www.theglasgowstory.com/govan/theme.php?content=42&theme=5 . The second site has a picture of him and an 1892/1893 ad for his restaurant. Apparently he didn't help found the Rangers FC; that was done by Peter Campbell, Peter McNeil, Moses McLay McNeil and William McBeath. However, he was its first captain, the first Ranger to play with the national team and the President of the club from 1883 to 1889. The early team had three McNeil brothers, three Campbell brothers and two Vallance brothers (Thomas and Alexander).
Some of the match reports for his games list him as Thomas C Vallance. Do you know what his middle name was?
