Thomas Vallance

I'm having difficulty tracing the above and his wife Marion (nee Dunlop) from both the 1891 and 1901 census for Scotland or England.  I do not think they emigrated, but cannot rule out Ireland.  Does anyone have any ideas on where they may have gone?

Hi,

Do you have years and places of birth for Thomas and Marion? Also do you have an occupation for Thomas?

Hi there and thank you for your quick response.  Thomas was born in Shandon - succoth - vale of Leven in 1857 and  Marion as born in glasgow in 1862.  Thomas may be listed either as a restauranteur or salesman.  He was one of the foundes of Rangers FC.

Susan

You are wonderful!  I have searched for ages for this and you have turned it up in minutes!

They are indeed the family.  Poor Harold was lost in WW1, but the family were very respectable and Thomas was quite a celebrity in his day.

Thomas Vallance moved with wife Marion to 189 Pitt Street, Glasgow where he died on 16th February 1935.
There are minor errors in the earlier postings.
He was born in 1856 at Succoth in the parish of Cardross, West Dumbartonshire.
The reference to 'Nallance' is an error as the surname is definitely Vallance.

Hope this helps.
