Found a baptisum for Benjamin Mew

At Uckfield,31 Aug 1856,son of George & Mary

Dad a Blacksmith

And in case you don't have them (but you probably do) ...

- Willie's Uckfield birth record (1853 Q3) is in Volume 2b, Page 90.
- Harriet's Uckfield birth record (1859 Q1) is in Volume 2b, Page 106.

I didn't see any parish records for them.

Thanks, Omega! Confirms the GRO index for Harriet's death in Q1 1852.

As for Benjamin, that's Hannah's husband OK, he must have taken up with a Mary pretty soon after Hannah's death (no sign of a marriage).

Rotter, i've just found that and was about to post!

And she died q2 1859, explaining no sign of her in 1861 census

There's a Mary Field in the 1851 census, born Mayfield, possibly age 20, in Uckfield Workhouse with daughter Caroline age 2 (b. Q1 1848 Uckfield 7 526). Hard to place Mary in 1841 census. Can't see a baptism on IGI.

Seems baby Caroline could have died q1 1853, just before her mother married.
