Hi Doorwoman, How sad the old photo were thrown out. I had the same experience with an aunt of mine who not only threw out the photos but the silver frames as well

Please acknowledge when a restorer works on your photos, it can take hours for them to work their magic

Please scan at 300dpi minimum to help save the restorers eyesight.

I'm going to have to chose one to print out now! Conundrums, conundrums!

Thank you all once more for taking the time to restore the photo, I'm absolutely amazed it came back so clear.

As my husband never knew his paternal grandparents & his father died young, it was such a find to have this pic in the 1st place, in the condition it was, far less how it is now. When he got it, you would have thought he had just inherited the family treasure!

ah but to some of us, pictures like these are the family treasure. I was once asked by the wife that, if in the event of a fire, what I would try to rescue first, her or the family history stuff....................the pause whilst I was weighing it up in my mind said it all I think  ;D ;D

You could make back ups to a dvd or cd , then keep it at another location (off-site back-up), then your other half will have a chance of survival in an emergency   :)
