Mosley Families
« on: Monday 28 May 07 15:49 BST (UK) »
I am researching Mosley families and have established my direct line to the early 18th century. I am also compiling a database with many hundreds of other (as yet) unconnected Mosley names.

I am trying to find out if anyone else is researching these families and wishes to share information which might lead to linking the families where appropriate.

If anyone has information regarding Mosley names (various spellings) I would be delighted to hear from you.

Many thanks in advance
Martin

Dear Martin
I have details of a Mosley family from Langley Mill comprising of six brothers who all served in WW1. Sons of Robert and Emma Mosley. Sons Herbert and Henry sadly lost their lives in the conflict the other 4 survived.  I do not believe that there is a war memorial at Langley Mill but I was loaned a copy of a book written just after WW1 detailing the men of the L Mill area who lost their lives.  There is a photo of Mrs Mosley with her six sons and a write up on the two who were killed.

Look at 'Other Memorials' then 'Langley Mill'
If you need better photos for any reason let me know and I can PM them to you.
Good luck with the research!

Hi, and many thanks!

I do indeed have this family, and was aware that the two brothers had died in the great war. I have very little other information regarding them, and the family photograph is of particular interest.

This begins to add to my understanding of the family, and I can't thank you enough.

Your website is excellent and I would highly recommend it to anyone with connections to the area.

Keep up the good work.

Dear Martin
Glad the site was of interest
If you want me to email larger photos to you I can - they were sized down for the website. I will post a small version of the Mosley family here as other readers may like to see it.  It is odd as it looks like photos of two of the brothers were pasted on later in the background.  The quality is not brilliant as the photos were a bit like newspaper photos and come up very grainy.
