Kirkton Dairy Burntisland
« on: Sunday 27 May 07 15:59 BST (UK) »
We have found on old  phone directories for 1928 to 1934 a Miss Lando with a phone number Burntisland 62, address, Kirkton Dairy, Burntisland. We believe that Mary is the sister of my wifes grandfather John Lando. She died in Edinburgh aged 66 in 1941 occupation given as Dairy Shopkeeper.

We would like to know where it was located and if anybody has any photograhs of the Dairy. A cousin believes the area is now a housing estate.

Have you tried www.burntisland.net.  It has historical info about Burntisland and and a contact address on the links page.

There was certainly council housing and an infant school built in the 40's, 50's  at  the Kirkton on the land behind the ruined Kirkton Church.

Made contact with Burntisland and they sent me postcard of the area in 1923 and an old map showing the location. The dairy has been demolished it now a telephone exchange.

Lets hope someone has got a photograph of the building and may remember Mary Lando.
