Tagg Family c.1947
« on: Sunday 05 December 04 17:57 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone find me any reference to a Denise Irene Tagg b. 09 March 1947. in Guildford.
Her parents are Charles Tagg and Violet French who married in March 1946, also in Guildford.
I know she exists because she is my step-mum  ;)
But having difficulty finding any registration info for her.
Yes I know I could go to the local records office were she was supposed to be registered, but have yet to get time to go there.
Hope someone can shed some light on this for me

I see there is a Denise Tagg born Wokingham, registered in the June to September 1947 quarter.

I know its not Guildford, but its not too many miles away and the name is not that common.

Worth ordering the birth certificate ?

Hi
Thanks for the info, but it's not the right one as her mother's maiden name was French not Simpkins as shown.
Oh well will have to try somewhere else  ???
thanks again

Vivvie,

I went through the 1955 street directory at the Surrey History Centre, but I could not see a Tagg.

I did not look further as I was unsure whether she may have been in the centre of Guildford or one of the surrounding villages.

I'm prepared to look further, including baptism records if you can clarify this or give any further info, such as any brothers or sisters you may know of etc.

The name Tagg rings a bell for me. My mother had a friend of that name. Her husband was chief Engineer for BOAC/British Airways. I would be talking 1970's. They lived in Sunningdale area which is not a million miles from Wokingham. I'm afraid this is not very specific, but might be a clue.

Thanks.
I know her parents Violet Irene French and Charles Floyd tagg married on 19 March 1946 and it was registered at Guildford Holy Trinity, Surrey.
They had 4 children my step mum b. 09 march 1947, and 3 sisters.
Janice Elizabeth b. 17 March 1949
Rosemary June b. 13 June 1954
Christine Ann b. 15 January 1956
As far as I know they lived in Guildford itself as that's where all the children were born.
Hope this might be of some use maybe
Thanks again for your help.

The march quarter of 1947 is missing completely from 1837 online.
To check the details I looked up her sister Janice and find a
Janice E TAGG Mothers maiden name French- born Mar 1949 ref Surrey SW 5g 1108.

I'll see if 1837 can be emailed to advise of missing page.
It can also be accessed on fiche at any large library FOC.

Casalguidi

I've emailed em and told them either to sort it  ;D or tell me the ref number ;D

If you try to enter march 1947-it says there are no entries that match.
Well of course there are- they are not telling me no babies were born in the UK in the months of Jan,Feb and March 1947.  ;D

I mean the year before wasn't even a world cup was one was it  ;)
Even the footie doesn't last for that long !!! Long enough for there to be no babies conceived  ???

I'll let you all know what they say,
