Barmby Dun - Birth and Marriage Look Up requests

Hello and thank you for looking.

I am new to the boards so forgive me I have come to the wrong place.

I am looking for a marriage in Barmby Dun between a Thomas Rusby and Mary (probably Waterhouse), c1798. I would be very grateful for any information on this couple.

I know they had at least three children:-


Thomas Rusby 1798
Samuel Rusby  1799
John Rusby      1801

All born in Barmby Dun. I would also like to know if there are any other children that I have missed.

I am also looking for another Rusby marriage, again probably Barmby Dun.

Samuel Rusby and Catherine, probably c1840. Their first child (that I am aware of), was born 1840 in Barmby Dun.

Thomas RUSBY marriage doesnt exist in Barnby Dun.  HOwever there  is a marriage of  Robart Rusby farmer of the parish of Sandal aged 33 and Mary Langfield Spinster of the parish aged 21 by banns witnesses David Parish JOhn BUtterfield.

In 1801 a JOhn RUSBY was baptised the son of Robert RUSBY and Mary nee WATERHOUSE the daughter of William of Root (wroot)

I'm sorry for the late response, but I've not been online today until now.

I wasn't sure if it was Barmby Dun or Barnby Dun me being a Southerner!   

A huge thank you for taking the time to do that lookup for me. It is greatly appreciated!

I am wondering if Thomas Rusby (born c1766) and Robert Rusby are one and the same? I found the births/baptisms of Thomas 1798, Samuel 1799 and John 1801 on the LDS site, which gave their parents as Thomas Rusby and Mary Waterhouse, and because their births/baptisms were at Barnby Dun, I presumed the parents married there too? But maybe their marriage was at Doncaster? Thomas Rusby, born 1798, is my husband's great grandfather x3.

Was John Rusby's baptism the only one in Barnby Dun?

Yes it was the only one of the three you mentioned.  There are many parish churches they could have married in and this would normally take a great deal of searching.  DOncaster Archives have an index system of peoples names so that would save time.  Unfortunately I go on Holiday on Firday for a week and wont be back at the archives for at least 10 or 11 days.  If you can wait for my return and ,maybe leave me a PM in a weeks time so I dont forget Ill have a look for you

I looked through our data at Doncaster Family History Society today.
I regret there is nothing more to add to the data supplied by Rob.
However,I noticed that a Sarah Watson married John Ogley on 25/4/1825 in the St Georges marriages.This might be pertinent.
