Smith or Ross-Smith family of Edinburgh
« on: Saturday 19 May 07 00:55 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to track down members of the Smith or Ross-Smith family of Edinburgh. They are descended from James Ross Smith, born 5 Mar 1865 in Dingwall, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland (son of Andrew Smith and Jane Elizabeth Fraser, sister of Anne Fraser, my great-grandmother). He married Olive Edith Tetley and had several children including Ian. He died in 1939. Ian is my fathers second cousin and I am hoping he will know something about the family history in Scotland.

My Great Grandfather was Hugh Fraser from Ross and Cometry and he had a sister Jane. Hugh was supposedly born August, 1850. I have a photo of Jane but her name is spelt Jayne. would be interested to hear from you.

My Frasers had left Scotland by 1950. My ancestor is Ann Fraser, born 1830 d/o John Fraser and Helen Grant. Ann had a large number of brothers and sisters, but there are no Hughs among them. Jane was born about 1828 in Urquhart, Rossshire and married Andrew Smith in Inverness. They had six children, but no Hughs. Sorry I can't be more help.

Hi

I made contact with you some time ago but was cut off when my computers were struck by lightning and I lost the last messages and contact details.

I see where our respective families fit in.
I have a fair amount of information, if you care to reply we could probably have a direct exchange.

No sign of any Hugh's at the moment either.

Patrick
