Hi there! Not sure if this is of any help, but my Gt-Gt-Gt-Gt-Grandfather is most probably the Gayton Mansfield of the Old Bailey article. His daughter Hannah (my Gt-Gt-Gt-Grandmother) was born in 1806 and states Edmonton as her place of birth in the 1871 England Census. Hannah's mother/Gayton's wife was also named Hannah, but I cannot as yet trace her further back than the christenings of her daughters Hannah, Sophia and Eliza Mansfield. They appear to have been non-conformist at that time. Hannah married in 1826 Soho, Westminster, a Robert Edlin and their firstborn son was christened Robert Gayton Edlin. Their second born son, Thomas Edward Edlin is my Gt-Gt-Grandfather. I have been struggling to discover where the name "Gayton" derives; in the online records it is variously deciphered as Gayton, Gaston, Guston, Gaydon, and even Clayton! Handwriting difficulties, obviously! With very best regards, Cici
