Hi Mim,
Thank you for that, one of the problems I'm having with finding the location is that there were at least 3 mines in that area with the Sherburn name (Sherburn, Sherburn Hill, and Sherburn House), and I don't know which one of these Sherburn Engine Houses would belong to.
The interest I have is with the "Engine" part of the locations name, as John BARKASS's son Thomas became a Steam Engine Fitter (not a waggonman like his father & Grandfather).
I'm wondering if thats where my father and I get our interest in engineering from.
