Glass/Rae Marriage 1855 - Co Tyrone

My Great Grandparents  - Samuel Glass and Margaret Rae ---  were married on 15 March 1855 in County Tyrone and that is all I know - Where I wonder.
           Their parents were Samuel Glass ( a farmer) + Margaret Moore  and James Rae ( a farmer) + Elizabeth Gibson .
             Can anyone see something familiar and shed some more light?

With that collection of surnames it is very likely the marriage was non-Catholic, and was therefore registered. The registration of the marriage will show you where they were married.

Do you have their children: IGI lists 9 children, all born in Scotland, to a Samuel Glass & Margaret Rae: Margaret (1861), Samuel (1863), Samuel (1864), Emily (1866), William James (1868), Eliza (1869), Joseph Rae (1871), John (1873), David (1874).

Thank you all for your help. Yes, I have those children. Eliza was my Grandmother. Yes, they would have been non- Catholic.
                                      It is a bit difficult to do much follow-up from here in Australia as I still don`t know which Parish I need to look at . There was , however another daughter who does not appear in the IGI. Her name was Mary Ann Glass and I think she may have been born in Ireland before Samuel and Margaret went to Scotland. Estimating her age from Census records, she was possibly born circa 1858.

A little more information ---- I can now confirm that Mary Ann Glass was born in Ireland ( as per the 1891 Cencus for Scotland  - place of birth column ) but still don`t know the Parish,  Regards, Thommoje

You can try this website as they have a very good database on northern Irish marriage registrations at:

It only cost you 10 pounds or A$20/21 for one month's subscription.

However, I took a peek at their free search--I am able to come up with a will on a Samuel Glass of Co Tyrone but no marriage registration on your couple--I think they may have been mistranscribed somewhere or their clergyman forgot to send into the register office.

Next thing is to look up on their fathers in Co Tyrone to     see where they were.

Will have to find that link for you.

There are three Samuel Glass (one of them is a Glassy) in the whole county of Tyrone and three different parishes.

You can try and to narrow it down by writing to three parish churches to see if they have your couple in their parish register books.

Hopefully, you will hit a right parent and you can get their marriage entry along with the baptism entry on their son.

As to Rae, it seems there is only one person with this surname in the whole county--Mary Rae???

Mary, You are a gem!
         That certainly sounds like my folk. I can now work on forming a picture of where they lived and maybe find more family members.
          It now seems so obvious to have tried the spelling " Wray".   Have tried Ray as my father had Rae as his middle name but it was mis-spelt as Ray.
