If the above are related to your family then this looks interesting:
1841
Fosters Place, Chancery Lane, Ardwick
John Widdows  41 born in the County of Lancashire  Occupation Carter
Maria Widdows  50 Not born in the County of Lancashire
 Eliza Widdows  20
 Ester Widdows  12

I noticed that William named one of his children Charlotte - after his sister?

Hi
That's great, thanks. I think they could be a possibility as one of William Henry's daughters was Charlotte who married John Chappell. I have found John and Maria on, I think, 1841 census,  but don't think it had many children, I expect they'd left by then.
I will keep the information and see what else turns up!
Thanks again
Jean

Yes, I did realise that I'd read your info too quick and shouldn't have been so eager to answer!
I have attached, I hope, the only Widdows photo that I have, my great grandma Rose Swann (nee Widdows), I am unable to find her at 1911 which is annoying. She died 1922. She was possibly in the Workhouse, hospital? Crumpsall Manchester, as she'd admitted herself several times previously.
