I don't know if this will be of any use. Until the late 1960s/early 1970s my father worked as a patternmaker for :

W. G. Ralphs & Son (WEednesfield) Ltd.,

Metal and Wood Pattern Makers
Keller Models and Exposy Resin Patterns

Wolverhampton Road, Wednesfield

The workshop was situated adjacent to the canal running into Wolverhampton.

Best Wishes
David

David,
Thanks for the information, with the company being 1960/70 we have no information on any W G Raphs descendant's from this period. The data base is based around 1750/ 1900 Wolverhampton / Birmingham.
But thanks anyway

I'll ask my father if he knows anything about the origins of the company.

I've tried to stir my father's memory and this is what I've come up with so far/ he will try to chat with some of his ex-patternmaker friends to see what they recall.

When the company was sold it was being run by Arthur Ralphs, one of the '& sons'

the business had been founded by William Ralphs, known to all as Billy.

According to my father, Billy was in his 80s when he died, we think around 1965??, having lived in Wednesfield. This would put him being born around 1885  ??

Again, according to my father, he was a patternmaker pretty much all of his life.

Hope this may be of help in some way.

Best Wishes
David

If its the William Ralphs I think It may be, his Roots will be from Salop. This is the oldest record Ralphs line in the area, going back into the 1600s

My father's memory is vague on dates & exact details but a couple of more snippets of information have come to him and he has phoned me with them.

Billy Ralphs lived in terraced housing in Wednesfield - my father may know someone who can recall where.

He also outlived his wife - again my father believes by some years.

I'll see what I can get out of him.

Best Wishes
