1893-1906 An American in Skiberdeen

My husband's great-grandfather, Sidney Grant Gott, was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts (USA) in 1864.  His father, Abner, owned 7 schooners I understand.  Sidney became a fish merchant and moved with his wife, Florence, and son, Herbert, to Skiberdeen, Ireland to engage in the fish merchant business.  Sidney and Florence also had a daughter, also named Florence, but I am not sure where or when she were born.  Herbert was about 6 or 7 years old when they moved from Massachusetts to County Cork, which would mean they moved  about 1893 or so. Sidney and Florence eventually divorced and they both ended up in England where they both died. I am trying to find any records I can of this family in Skiberdeen.  Does anyone have access to the 1901 Irish census, that could do a look-up for me?  The only records I can find on-line are records from the Skiberdeen Masonic Lodge that show Sidney Grant Gott as the Master of Skiberdeen Mason Lodge #15 in 1901 and 1902.  I would appreciate any help finding records of this family in Skiberdeen.

The 1901 + 1911 census of Ireland are available to order on microfilm through your nearest Latter Day Saints(LDS) centre.The cenus records are broken down in to districts and townlands(not alphabetical)so if you were't sure of the address you may have to trawl through the whole of Skibereen.

Ther's also a heritage centre in Skibereen which holds both the 1901 and 1911 for Skibereen - I'm not sure whether there would be a charge but I suoppose you could e-mail them first.

Also the Cork County Library has a copy of the 1901 census of Cork - it may be worth an e-mail  Cork City library holds the 1911 census.

Irish census records might have to be ordered from Salt Lake City at your local LDS library.

Thanks for the responses.  I will look in to ordering the 1901 census records from LDS.  It seems, from ship manifests documenting Sidney's travels, that he was still a resident of Skiberdeen through 1903.  He doesn't show up in records in England until 1908, when he is shown living in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England until his death in 1923.
