Well, TK - I'm certainly leaving this group of men to talk amongst themselves - Morrisons, corsets, Thursdays, dates, stupid.................................

Night   :)

I hope to see some good restores come morning - no face cream mind  ::)

Hi Glen
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
To clarify the issue, when you restore for others, you are not constrained by what you think the outcome should be. So as you will see from the site, there can be a  wide range of interpretations for any particular image, and there are some fantastic results / interpretations (some of which may not be true to life, but which are real works of art!).
However when you restore for yourself you tend to be more factual, more blinkered and therefore usually less creative.
Most Restorers occassionally post images to see what others come up with.  And Restorers like the opportunity / challenge to work on any images, no matter who from
Cheers

Gadget / Tomkin
What about less chatter and more action >:( >:( >:(
My poor Uncle survived Dunkirk, and all you can do is twitter on about Thursdays and Morrisons. :( :( :(
Everyone knows that in the UK, Thursday evenings is for dumping all the rubbish progammes on TV ::) ::) ::)
Leave Morrisons until Friday, to miss the "blue rinse" brigade! :-X :-X :-X

And as for dates, this forum is an absolute hotbed of dating! "Could I have a date, please"..."Would sks kindly provide me with a date".... all the way up to "HOW ABOUT A DATE!!!" which iirc was actually a quote from Mudge himself, perhaps getting a little edgy after a long week (including Thursday) of restoring...

Cheers,

Well done Gadget . . . you managed to restrain yourself there.  I'll bet Mudge likes it when he comes back on.    ;)

I like groups of men . ..  ...  any going spare??

It's 12,000 miles to my nearest Morrisons . .. . . .. ..   :o :o :o  I'd need more than a Thursday . .. ::) ::)

Hi Gadget
Thanks for that great restore. ::) ::)  I knew I could rely on you  ;) ;)
My uncle is still alive, age 94, and sent my the photo last week.

(ps No more mention of Morrisons please, as I feel guilty having just returned home after treating ourselves to a cooked breakfast there, before going around the local Sunday market)

A pity you can't put up a bigger version, Mudge - the faces and the details of the instruments and hands were difficult to do justice to at this size  :(

I don't like that place, so I certainly won't mention it  :)

And,  by the way, where are Tomkin and Glen's restores  ::) ::)

Gadget

PS - I tried a new approach to toning. I read about doing a grey-green under tone somewhere in one of my art books (rather than the usual grey). Then i added the  browny tone  :)
