Hi Debbyftm,

Thanks for telling me that you used to know a Miss/Mrs Brain.

If you ever bump into her, ask her a bit about her family history! (Just kidding!)

Kind regards,

Tees

Hi Rootschatters,

Wondering if anyone knows of the local newspapers or newsletters in Ferry Hill area??

My auntie would like to try out my suggestion by placing a wee ad in the paper(s) asking anyone who know the Brains and other families in that area to contact her with any useful information and possibly photos.

Please do let us know so I can help her with the enquiries.

Any help or information gratefully received by us.

Kind regards,

Tees

Hi Maeve,

I am sorry as I do not recognise the names you listed but I would have to ask my auntie to take another look at the censuses on the Brains I found for her.

Hi Gerryfitz,

Many thanks for replying to this post! Great! I will try that the website as the other website was not responsive to my enquiry.

And is there a cemetery in Ferry Hill? Wondering if you could kindly make a enquiry for me to see if there is a grave of Isabella Brain nee Hepple? I was hoping that it will lead us to her husband's grave as well--my auntie insisted that he died in Ferry Hill but could not find him in the GRO Indexes but I think I have found his possible death registration but it was in Surrey (quite a distance from Ferry Hill!).

She truly wanted to know where and when he died.

Every little help does help me a lot in helping her!

Thank you so much for posting this reply--it is much appreciated! So sorry that I did not get to you sooner--apparently, I did not get a notification for this post for some reasons.

Regards & Thanks,

Tees

Hello Tees,

There is only the one public cemetery, run by the Town Council.

They will do a burial search but there is a cost, see their website here:-
