Parish Register look up, Holy Trinity, Hull. HARRISON Completed
« on: Friday 04 May 07 00:30 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I would be really grateful for a look up of any of the following please.

I am looking to find the  marriage of William Harrison to Elizabeth (possibly Luddington) at ?Holy Tinity, Hull sometime before March, 1833 (the birth of the earliest known child).

Also has anyone access to the baptisms at all? There were two William & Elizabeth Harrisons baptising children at Holy Trinity at the same time so I would really appreciate it if someone could check to see if there is any extra information to be had. The baptisms are as follows, all IGI:

Alice 16.11.1829
Mary Ann 16.9.1833
Angelina 23.3.1833
Henrietta 5.6.1837
William Daniel 26.12.1836
Emma Elizabeth 5.9.1836

Angelina & William are children of the family I am interested in. Angelina Harrison was staying with my ancestors Edward & Ann Luddington in the 1841 census at Marsh Chapel, Lincs in 1841 aged 8. I am convinced that the above Angelina is a grand daughter of theirs but I have no proof of this. The 1841 does say that she was born in the county (Lincs) but this could be incorrect or she may have been born there & baptised at Hull, Yorks.

Angelina is missing from the Hull family in 1841 but crops up in the 1851 which would be correct. In the 1851 she is named as Angelina Harrison, aged 10, dau of Elizabeth Rhodes, widow. eating house keeper. Elizabeth was born in Marsh Chapel ;D There is another daughter, Hannah Rhodes who was stated to be 18 in the 1851.  I believe the ages have been mistakenly reversed as a Hannah Rhodes was c 11.1.1841 at Kingston upon Hull, dau of Elizabeth & Samuel Rhodes (IGI). There is also an Eliza Sargeant aged 19, not born in the county, living with them, who I believe could well be Angelina's cousin & dau of my Ann (nee Luddington).

I believe William Harrison died 1836-1839 & Elizabeth then married Samuel Rhodes in 1839 at Holy Trinity, Hull (BMD reg Dec). Samuel died possibly in 1849 aged 40 at St Mary's, Hull.

I have followed Angelina through the census but there are no more clues.

I know this isn't my direct family but it would be lovely to find that she is Elizabeth, dau of the Edward Luddington & Ann I have on my tree as I haven't been able to go back any further than this generation. Of course she could be another Elizabeth entirely & the family were just looking after Angelina for a few days!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Regards

criggy

Information now received from a direct descendant of Angelina. We are now both of the opinion that she is the daughter of Elizabeth Luddington & William Harrison.

Holy Trinity, Hull

Ellen,                bap. 26.2.1831 - father Mariner.
Angelina,           bap 23.2.1833 - father Victualler
Mary Ann,          bap 16.9.1833 - father Mariner
William Daniel,   bap 21.3.1836 - father Victualler plus there was a note saying 'Born 29.12.1834')
Emma Elizabeth, bap 5.9.1836 - father Victualler

Now we just need to confirm the marriage of William Harrison to Elizabeth Luddington!

The marriages were also checked at Holy Trinity, Hull 1831-1836 but no luck there although the film was very faded in places.

If anyone can help with this marriage we would be eternally grateful.

Regards

Christine

where do you go to look up the Holy Trinity registers from early 1800?  is it Beverley, and do you just turn up?

Hi

The information was recieved by an e-mail friend at that time. Unfortunately I have cannot find the e-mail attached to this item. I do remember though that she ordered the Holy Trinity marriage fiche from the Mormon Church (family history) at one time and also checked out various fiche at one of the Hull local libraries.

If you are local to Hull then your best bet would be to give one of the libraries a ring to see what BMD fiche they possess.
