I am now trying to find connections with any Nash, Jeffreys or Pulfords from around Yea in Victoria. From 1850 up.

s.k.

To avoid duplication of lookups by RootsChatters, I will refer them to your thread at:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,228826

where there is discussion of related families.

Many lookups have been posted on that thread including a couple which concern the name PULFORD from Yea.

As has been indicated, the Victorian BDMs can be searched online free of charge at:
http://online.justice.vic.gov.au/servlet/bdm_home
Results can be downloaded for a small charge ($A0.99 per page of up to 20 results).

If you are able to visit in person, the BDM indexes are available to view free of charge at the State Library of Victoria and several other libraries.

Thanks Jap for the reply.

I have gone back to look at these threads but they were not what I was after.
so the original request still stands. If anyone can help me that's wonderful, if not, thats fine too.

Hi s.k.,

The main point I'm trying to make concerns unnecessary duplication of effort by helpful RootsChatters - and other RootsChatters too have already made this point on some of the other threads.

It really does help RootsChatters to help you if you summarize what information you already have and then specify what additional information you are now seeking.

Otherwise there is bound to be duplication of effort by helpful RootsChatters - something which, I trust, everyone wants to avoid  ;D

Your current request states "any Nash, Jeffreys or Pulfords from around Yea in Victoria. From 1850 up."

Such a request is so general (in the light of earlier threads) that there is certain to be further duplication.

That is, unless RootsChatters spend time going back through each of the several other threads and tabulating what information has already been provided about the names NASH, JEFFREYS and PULFORD from 1850 on  ::)

If you post a summary of known facts and a much more specific request, this will ensure that helpful RootsChatters don't spend their time (and it is time-consuming as you will find if you do it) searching for, and then typing out and posting, information which has been posted before (some of it, indeed, which has been posted more than once already!).

I hope that this explanation helps.

Regards,

JAP

Hi SK

On reading this comment -  my next query would have to be

What are you after? Is you are looking for living descendants of your named folks - do specify this. If you want specific information about someone than ask a specific question. I cannot work out  from your original question what you are trying to find out  ???

For completeness.

The following is yet another thread where extensive post-1850 lookups from the Victorian BMDs have already been provided about the NASH and JEFFREYS families:

Dear Trish and Jap

The family I am looking for is all dead. They settled around the Yea area. The reason it fans out a bit is because I am going only on family folk law and it is only been with your help so far that I have been made aware of certain people which I had no idea previously existed.

I think a good place to start would be with Charles Pulford and Jemima Mainwaring Nash. Charles died in 1950-1960. Jemima in the late 1970-early 1980   period. She died in Boronia. The reason I dated the search back to 1850 is to fill in gaps.

s.k.,

Could you provide the birthdates and also give the names of the parents of Charles PULFORD and of Jemima Mainwaring NASH.  That will make any search much easier for RootsChatters and ensure that correct records are found.
