GILMORE from Killinchy
« on: Monday 30 April 07 01:38 BST (UK) »
Hello :-)

I have just discovered i am from the Gilmore's of Killinchy, County Down.

My GGG Grandparents were Thomas CLARKE and Alice GILMORE, they married on 17 oct 1846 at Killinchy presbyterian church.

According to her death certificate Alice was the daughter of James GILMORE and Hannah CRAIGAN, however i found a record for Alice GILMORE bap: 20 June 1826 Killinchy presbyterian with parents James GILMORE and Hannah GREYHAM.

According to the IGI James GILMORE and Hannah GREYHAM married  at Killinchy presbyterian on 4 June 1816.

Funnily enough though there is a marriage for David GILMORE and Jane CRAIGAN on 7 June 1834, Killinchy., relatives perhaps ???

There is a lot of births on the IGI with Jas. GILMORE as father in Killinchy but unfortunately no mothers names so i am not sure how many children James and Hannah may have had but hopefully i will be able to find some other descendants.

If anyone can help with this family i would be most grateful.

Thank you

There are lots of Gilmores in County Down and many of them will be named James, John, Robert, William, etc. so it's sometimes difficult to sort them all out.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Debi-robo - I hope. I saw you were looking for info on Hugh Kane after 1860, is that correct? I am a granddaughter of a Hugh Kane born in 1887 whose father was also Hugh Kane. Laura

Hi there
Denis Gilmore is my name and my Great Grandfather 3 times, married  Issabella Collins in Saintfield in 1806. My Great Great Grandfather, David Gilmore was born in Killinchy in 1807. He married Jane Young, born in Saintfield in 1816, in 1837.  They moved to New South Wales in 1838, where in 1839, Sarah Gimore was born. I have researched my side of the family for over 15 years, so if you want a cd copy of the Gilmore Story, please let me know and I will send you a copy.
Hope to hear from you
All the best

My wife (born as Rosemary Lowe in Casino, NSW) is the granddaughter of David Thompson, who was the grandson of David Gilmore (born 1807) and Jane Young (born 1816). We have lots of information about their Australian descendants, but would love to know more about their Irish antecedents.
Would love a copy of your Gilmore Story through RootsChat.
