Hello Coline
Sorry, just been really busy. I work away from home all week.
This is hubby's side of the family, and since I have a family wedding coming up (this Friday!) at home in Scotland, I've been focussing on my side to get as much uncovered as I can before I go home, as a surprise for my dad and the family.
To add to the delays, I've had problems with my FTM. Got my laptop reconfigured for work, and lost my package. got it back but had to reregister and now my unlock code won't work, so will have to get another one from FTM, so I can print out and save the info from it to send you by e mail.
I've done no further work yet on the Buchanans and Risks - but I think that you have more info than I in any case.
You still have access to my tree on GenesReunited.
Your 2 x g grandfather Alexander Buchanan was the brother of Don, my hubby's, 3 x g grandfather Andrew Buchanan. (Their parents Alexander Buchanan and Grizel Gardner).
Andrew was also a grocer. He married Jean Forsyth 21.12.1820 @ Govan, and died 27.01.1868 @ Killearn.
One of his many sons was John Buchanan b. 14.12.1823 @ Killearn. He married Jane Ronald Thomson, a doctors daughter, when he was 43 in 1868, a few months after his father died.
John Buchanan was a Confectionery Manufacturer, and owned John Buchanan & Brothers, along with his brothers. I have a copy of his will. He died at Dumbuck House, Dumbarton in 1881.
Andrew Risk Buchanan (hubby's g grandfather) was John and Jane's eldest son, b. 28.01.1870 in Blythswood, Glasgow. He was also a Confectionery Manufacturer. (His brothers also worked in the business according to various census info I've found) He married Annie Whyte Wilson, another grocer's daughter, in 1894 @ Dalziel Drive, Glasgow.
One of his daughters was Edith Agnes Buchanan b. 13.02.1896 in Blythswood, Glasgow, my husbands grandmother.
Once I get my FTM sorted out, I'll send you some more of the families' details.
Kind Regards
Ellen.
