« on: Thursday 02 December 04 09:42 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for Thomas Craige ( his name is spelt Crage in South Africa). There is a possiblity that he was born in London in 1839 but all my tracing efforts have been fruitless so far.  Help!

I have done some searching for you but nothing in the London region. There are a few Thomas Craige's listed on the LDS site: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

It may also be an idea to see if you can find him on the 1841 / 51 census for the London region. It is possible his birth was not registered as civil registration started in September 1837. 1839 was still early days for registrations so perhaps you will be unlucky in finding a certified record of his birth.

Hi Stewart

Are you doing a One Name Study on the entire family name or are you just after information on these particular individuals?  :)

If the latter is the case I will gladly move the post for you to a more relevant board which may help to generate a response for you.   Please let me have any information on possible locations (County etc.) so I can place it in the right board.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes
