I have looked at St Mary Magdelene Bermondsey 1782-1812.

There is a Samuel Everett born 1791 to Samuel and Elizabeth
Samuel Charles Everett bap 1812 to Samuel and Helena.

One of these could be Hannah's brother.  From your list of witnesses it looks as If Elizabeth could be Hannah's mother but who knows.

I got this disc from http://www.parishregister.com/searchpage.html where you can look at some registers for South London.  Unfortunately the next years have not been transcribed yet but it says COMING SOON so it is worth looking at on a regular basis.  You should try different spellings.

Thank you, Sylviaann

There is a Samuel EVERITT in 1841 census, St. Mary Magdalene Bermondsey, 50 yrs (born abt 1791), wife "Leath", 45y (born abt 1796), children Thomas, Emma, Henry. In 1851 census, St. James Bermondsey, there is Samuel Everitt, 62y (born abt 1789 at Colchester, Essex) with wife Mary Ann, 42y (born about 1809) with children Emma and Henry.

I have wondered if this could be Hannah's family.

There is a Hannah ATHERTON listed in St. Mary Magdalene Bermondsey parish register, buried 1849, 25 years old.

What information is in a death certificate that might help me in determining Hannah's ancestry?

Thank you.

A death certificate will not give any information about Hannah ancestry.

It gives
Date and place of death, name, sex, age, occupation, cause of death, informant, when registered, signature of registrar.

The age will only be what the informant believed it to be and may not be accurate
The occupation in the case of a woman usually says wife of, or widow of
The informant could be a member of the family but may not be.

Not much help I'm afraid except to find her address and whether her husband was still alive.

She may not have been born in Rotherhithe, people did move over the river, so she could have been born in Middlesex and not Surrey.  Best thing is to try to find her in 1841 and look at the other churches on Parishreg but you will have to try as many spellings as you can.

Samuel Everitt in Bermondsey on the 1841 census was a boot maker - a quite distinctive occupation. What occupation did Hannah state her father had on her marriage?

Regards

Hi Valda

I don't have a copy of the marriage certificate, just saw one years ago and wrote down selected info. I intend to order that certificate since I am serious about identifying my EVERITT ancestry.

Great pick up, though. I am anxious to find out what the occupation of the father of Hannah EVERITT is.

Thanks for keeping me in mind.
