Have you tried the Emigrants to New Zealand thread?  Plenty of website info and lookups available there..

According to FreeBMD there were two Richard Taylors registered in Bolton that year..

Births Mar 1892
Taylor  Richard     Bolton  8c 484   

Births Sep 1892
Taylor  Richard     Bolton  8c 558
