Pollokshaws is approximately 5 miles from Barony .... could it have said Burgh of Pollokshaws ?

Monkton is in Ayrshire which is approx 30 miles from both of the above

Sorry I have been unable to find any more info .... my own ancestors lived at no 65 Main Street.

However I did clear up one point .. in some papers Pollokshaws is referred to as "A burgh of Barony" in the early 19th century  .... Police  Burgh status was not applied for until later in the 19th Century

A Burgh of Barony basically allowed them to set up their council and elect a provost

update ... You won't find Main street on any modern map as its name was changed in 1932 to Shawbridge Street ... which still exists.
