Hi

Does anyone know why Union St. in Leyland was renamed as Fox Lane?

Thanks

Hi - thanks for that link - interesting is that.

... and thanks too for the offer of photos. Actually, I've visited the place myself and taken some pictures in the recent past.

If you have a look at the link which was posted (I'm sure you'll recognise most of the buildings), you'll see a reference to John Lord's butchers shop. He's one of the guys I'm interested in. I'd very much like a photo of the shop pre-1994 (when it was redeveloped). You wouldn't know where I can find one, would you?

Also, on the opposite corner of the road is an old building now painted black and white. It used to be a post-office run by a guy called Quarton Houlden (a grand name that!). Any old photos of the post office, Quarton's chemist shop or even of old Q (as he was known) would be very welcome.

All a long shot, I know, but no harm asking.

Thanks again for your replies.

Scottiedog - Quarton Houlden was my Great Great Grandfather. If you did manage to get any photos, I'd be really very interested!

Hi Kath

Wow, this is one of out of the dim and distant! Quarton was my wife's great great grandfather too.

I'm afraid I never did manage to find a picture nor locate his grave. I have a photo of his mother and father's grave stone though and quite a few other family details back to the mid-1700s.

Cheers
