Hi Migky,

I've split your post out as it won't get special attention other wise  ;)

But, if you haven't already done so, do register with SP (free), get the free credits and follow up on SP.  A free SP surname search finds the following"
BELLAMACINA - 3 Statutory Register marriages, and 3 deaths
PAGLIARI - 1 SR marriage, 1 death
NATARANGILE - no results (you could try with wildcards)

Hope you make headway  :)

Hi Migky

Don't know if this will be much help - but the Pagliaris certainly made it as far north as Inverness. They owned a chip shop in the town for many years (maybe they still do). They are one of the long-established Italian families in the area, although I'm not sure when they came to Inverness. There are also Pagliaris in the Rosemarkie/Fortrose area in the Black Isle and in Grantown-on-Spey (according to the phone book at bt.com).

Hope this may be of some help.

Just found a Licia baptised in C.Sutherland 1777

Hi Migky-
I came across a MacKay on the Sutherland family forum with the first name Licia. My sister's name is Licia and it is an Italian origin. It made me curious about Italian connections in county Sutherland in the 1700's.  Just thought that was interesting. I'll let you know if I come up with her maternal lineage names.

Hello! I've just sttumbled on this thread and I was wondering if anyone were able to help.
I'm a student at the University of Edinburgh. I'm doing a research project on Italian language maintenance among the Scotsitalian community and on its role in shaping the identity of successive generations of Italian immigrants.
If you're a Scotsitalian (no matter if you speak Italian or not) and think you could spare 5 minutes (honestly, it won't take more than that) to fill up a questionnaire I would be very grateful. My email address is (*)
Thanks a lot
Katia
